Interface Observation

Take a count of every interaction with a sensor you see or experience.

1️⃣ Identify the sensors and how they sense (or do not sense) you/someone else?
2️⃣ Does the sensor make itself known to you? If so, how?
3️⃣ How do you know if the sensor has sensed?
4️⃣ Is there more than one stage of interaction or multiple interactions?

The findings are as follows.

1️⃣ Mechanical switch. Press the switch down and it sends a signal to the PC.
2️⃣ Yes. The remote control uses an actual physical switch.
3️⃣ Press the remote control, the bulb will light up, and adjust the brightness according to the keys.
4️⃣ Multiple interactions, e.g., short press for step adjustment, long press for linear adjustment.

1️⃣ Touch sensor. It works like a switch, when there is contact, touch, or pressure on the surface of a touch sensor, it opens up an electrical circuit and allows currents to flow through it.
2️⃣ No. The interface is usually a screen, glass, or mirror.
3️⃣ Touch the LED in the middle of the mirror, the lights around will light up.
4️⃣ When the light is on, the LED turns blue. When the light is off, the LED turns red.

1️⃣ Sound sensor. It is used to detect the intensity of sound.
2️⃣ No. The sound was picked up by an internal microphone.
3️⃣ The result is a light turned on, reacting to the sound.
4️⃣ One stage of interaction.

1️⃣ RFID tag. It contains an integrated circuit and an antenna, which are used to transmit data to the RFID reader.
2️⃣ Yes.
3️⃣ Use the tag to approach the reader, and the door will open automatically after a while.
4️⃣ One stage of interaction.

1️⃣ Fingerprint scanner. It uses a light-sensitive microchip to produce a digital image. The computer analyzes the image automatically, selecting just the fingerprint, and then uses sophisticated pattern-matching software to turn it into a code.
2️⃣ The scanner is on the back of the door lock for security but it is visible.
3️⃣ Put my finger on the scanner, and the door will open automatically after a while.
4️⃣ One stage of interaction.

1️⃣ Infrared sensor. It is used to measure and detect infrared radiation in its surrounding environment.
2️⃣ I can see the unnoticeable sensor at the entrance of the stairs.
3️⃣ When an object comes close to the sensor, the light strip under the stairs lights up.
4️⃣ One stage of interaction.
