Link to the performance Cups!
The performance is a rendition of the music video by Anna Kendrick performing Cups (Pitch Perfect's "When I'm Gone"). I was really impressed by the cooperation between all the performers and how the group produced multiple layers of sound and music by using cups (and their bodies) as the only medium and instrument. The form was not very complicated, but the people's collaboration throughout the performance was effective in infecting the audience with emotion. As an audience, I felt that the group performers must have had good chemistry that resulted in a compelling and engaging experience. In addition, I don't think this intriguing performance applied too many advanced technologies that are difficult to access. Still, the technique of mutual collaboration and tacit understanding would have been hard to achieve without each performer devoting enough time and effort to the rehearsal process.
